Sunday 5th June Pentecost. ‘The birthday of the Church’.
The Bishops of England and Wales have chosen this date to confirm that the reasons which have prevented Catholics from attending Mass (on Sunday) no longer apply. Thus the ‘Sunday Obligation’ is reinstated. However, some, for reasons of health, do not feel safe enough to return to Mass. The Bishops confirm that if the freedom to attend is impeded for reasons of health or legitimate fear, there is no breach of the Sunday Obligation. At St David’s the return is facilitated by two Masses which fulfil the Obligation: 5.30 pm Saturday, and 11 am Sunday.
Holy Communion – Currently we are able to benefit from the wider space between rows. Taking advantage of this, we invite anyone whose mobility is in any way restricted to remain at their seat, and communion will be brought to them. The Minister(s) will pause after the ‘queue’ and look around the church. Please raise a hand, or ask a neighbour to indicate, and the Minister will bring Communion to you at your place. Receiving the Body of Christ is more important than ‘struggling’ to reach the altar steps!
Next Saturday 21st May, Mass at 5.30pm (not at 10.am)
Month of May Holy Rosary before the Mass every day at 9.40am (except Sundays)
