![]() 1St Sunday of Advent
The Advent wreath leads us each week to the feast of Light and Life, the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. The circle reminds us of God's unending love, and the eternal life which He gives us. Even in the midst of winter and death, the evergreen symbolises everlasting life and the continuing life of God, which comes to us through Christ. Purple candles indicate a time of repentance, and the pink candle reminds us of the approaching joy of Christmas Day. The four candles signify Hope, Faith, Joy, and Peace. As we light the first candle, we recall the hope, expressed by the prophets, of God's promise of a Messiah. Let us use this season of preparation and anticipation to refresh and re-charge our faith. |
